Features and Benefits
Project
directory
All participants in the
project are listed with their addresses, telephone numbers, email and other
contact information. This ensures that all contact information is centrally
maintained and that members of the design team can easily contact each other.
Project
calendar
You can schedule meetings using the built-in project calendar. Team members are
automatically notified by email and can view the schedule in their web browser.
Document
viewing
You can view over 200 commonly used document formats in a standard web browser.
You don't need to purchase all the different applications that are used by other
team members and don't even need to install a plug-in.
CAD
viewing and redlining
You can view, print and redline AutoCAD DWG and MicroStation DWG drawings and
their associated reference files without the need to install a plugin. This
ensures that everybody in the design team has access to CAD drawings without the
need to install AutoCAD or MicroStation.
Document
history
All actions on a document such as upload, download or viewing are recorded per
user. This enhances accountability and allows project managers to evaluate the
responsiveness of team members.
Document
commenting
Team members can add comments to documents and can view comments submitted by
others. The comments are stored separately from the document and enable team
members to track changes and revisions.
Subscribe
to updates
Team members can subscribe to one or more documents so that they receive a
notification when a document has been changed. This avoids that people are
working on outdated documents and automatically triggers an action for another
user.
Automatic
uploads
You can automatically upload multiple files from your desktop to ProjectCenter.
You can even specify a particular time for the upload to take advantage of lower
communication fees or minimize network load during business hours.
Workflow
applications
ProjectCenter includes a set of workflow applications such as RFI's, issue
tracking, submittals, daily field reports and change orders. These applications
increase the efficiency of the building design process and enable the project
manager to keep track of the process.
Team
mail
You can send and receive electronic messages for team members and external
persons. The email functionality is integrated with the workflow applications
and all communication is documented as part of the design process.
Discussion
forums
You can create discussion forums on various topics and team members can exchange
ideas 24 hours per day from anywhere in the world. The interactive forums often
replace the need to have time consuming and expensive meetings.
Fax
in
Each project has a unique fax number where anybody can send information using a
standard fax machine. Other team members can view the fax in their web browser
and the fax is stored in digital format as part of the project documentation.
Email
in
If you don't have access to a web browser you can send documents as an email
attachement to your ProjectCenter email account. This feature is also useful if
you need to upload a large number of documents.
Access
rights
System adminstrators can specify default access rights per user, which can be
further specified per application and per directory. The access rights specify
whether a particular team member is authorized to view, download or modify
information.
Localized
versions
ProjectCenter is available in English, French, German, Dutch, Spanish, Japanese
and Korean. This means that members of a design team around the world can work
with the system in their native language.
Multiple
platform
ProjectCenter works with a wide variety of operating systems and browsers. All
functionality is based on Java technology which means that members of the design
team don't need to install any plug-ins or other software.
Ease
of use
ProjectCenter can be used by non technical people. No software
installation is required and one or two hours of training are enough to get your
design team up to speed.
